Roses / New Beginnings
November 5, 2024As the curtains rise on my new life, I find myself standing at crossroads of past and present, military boots exchanged for stage shoes, and a new script in hand. After 21 years of dedicated service to my country, I’ve traded my uniform for costumes and the regimented drills for choreography. This journey hasn’t been easy; it’s been lined with challenges, yet it’s also paved with moments of profound triumph.
Earning my BA in Theatre and Dance, with a concentration in Acting, has been a testament to the power of resilience and the beauty of second chances. The transition from military to civilian life, especially in the arts, is not without its hardships. Yet, every hardship has been a steppingstone, as every challenge a cue to rise and delivers.
There have been days where the weight of the world felt heavier than the packs I carried on long marches. Yet, the love and support from my family, friends, and mentors have been the roses in my garden. Each rose, a symbol of the unwavering belief in me, kept me pushing forward. These roses are the applauses that resonates in the silence, the whispers of encouragement that have guided me this stage.
Today, as I prepare to take my first bow in this new beginning, I reflect on the journey that has led me here. This bow is not just for the role I’m about to play on stage, but for every role I’ve played in life - a soldier, a student, a dreamer, and now, an actress. It’s a bow of gratitude for the path I’ve walked and the promise of the paths yet to tread.
Every end being a new beginning, and here I stand at the dawn of mine, ready to embrace the adventure that lies ahead. Here’s to the countless roles and characters, the laughter and tears, and the endless rosed yet to come.
Thank you for being part of this journey, for holding me up when the curtain fell, and for celebrating with me as it raised again. Here’s to new beginnings, with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit ready to shine.
